Presenting Clarinetist KINAN AZMEH, who is not simply a spectacular clarinetist, but a musical ambassador who has touched audiences all over the world. He is a unique musician, born in Syria and active the world over with the greatest living musicians like
Yo Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim.
He is not only a virtuoso instrumentalist, but a composer and improviser. Moreover, he is a musician with a social conscience, one who has engaged with difficult humanitarian issues as few musicians have. Among other things, he is a member of Daniel Barenboim's East-West Divan orchestra, made up of musicians from all over the Middle East--Israelis, Palestinians, Egyptians, Syrians, etc. His humanity and commitment is palpable in his performances, offering audiences an inspiring and uplifting experience that goes beyond him simply getting all the notes right.
Kinan Azmeh will perform together with pianist FLORIAN WEBER. The program will be around the theme of miniatures. Consisting mostly of original compositions but also few pieces by Berg, Penderecki and Bartok. There will be lots of improvisations as well. It is a project working around miniatures.
